Saumya R has joined Lloyds Technology Centre India as Engineering Leader – BTB Labs, bringing her extensive leadership experience in engineering and financial technologies to one of the most ambitious digital initiatives in the global banking sector. In her new role, she will lead the BTB Labs group, focusing on digital and core payments, merchant onboarding, and channel platform modernization—all critical components of Lloyds’ digital-first strategy.

Prior to joining Lloyds Technology Centre in May 2025, Saumya was with Visa for nearly four years, serving as Director of Engineering for the company’s tokenization and data engineering vertical. At Visa, she successfully built and scaled a highly resilient data center infrastructure for the Visa Token Management System (VTMS), handling over 5 million transactions per day. Her leadership played a key role in regulatory compliance, global adoption of token services, and improving platform reliability with 99.999% uptime.

Saumya’s career journey spans several marquee names in the banking and IT industry. She previously served as Tribe Head – Global Transaction Banking IT at Société Générale Global Solution Centre, where she scaled a zero-base team to 45+ FTEs and led the digital transformation of over eight banking applications. Her earlier tenures at Virtusa, Royal Bank of Scotland, and others further showcase her depth in managing large-scale transformations, cloud migration strategies, and Agile engineering practices across geographies.

With more than 15 years of deep-rooted experience across global banking, payments, and financial services IT, Saumya is now poised to steer Lloyds’ enterprise-grade digital engineering at scale. Her appointment reaffirms Lloyds Technology Centre India’s commitment to building future-ready, cloud-first platforms that power the next generation of digital banking experiences for businesses and merchants across the UK and beyond.

In her new capacity, Saumya will work at the intersection of technology strategy, engineering delivery, and platform innovation—continuing her mission of creating scalable, secure, and resilient digital ecosystems. Her cross-functional approach and proven leadership are expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating Lloyds’ technology modernization agenda globally.
