Asim Kumar Bera has taken on the role of General Manager – Steel Projects & Flow Control Systems at Vesuvius India Limited, marking a new milestone in his long-standing association with the company, where he has served for over 25 years. Based in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Asim brings extensive experience in refractory application, project management, and leadership within the steel sector. In his new position, he will be responsible for leading greenfield and brownfield projects in the steel division, ensuring successful commissioning while maintaining high standards across scope, timeline, HSE, quality, and cost parameters. His role also includes overseeing preventive maintenance, health audits, and crisis management for flow control systems operating across various steel plants in India.
Before this, Asim served as General Manager – Advanced Refractory Project & Services at Vesuvius India Limited, where he focused on customer segmentation, team development, and driving sustainable business growth. Over the years, he has also led IP Projects, managed business development for tundish refractory products, and handled key customer accounts such as SAIL Bokaro, TATA Steel, and JSPL Raigarh, achieving operational excellence and strengthening customer relationships.
Asim’s earlier roles at Vesuvius India Limited included Assistant Manager – IP Sales & Services, Senior Design Engineer, and Sales Service Engineer, where he gained deep expertise in commissioning and technical performance management at steel plants including AMNS Hazira (formerly Essar Steel). His career began at Philips Lighting as a Process Quality Engineer, where he built his foundation in process improvement and product quality assurance.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, Asim Kumar Bera combines over 25 years of technical and managerial experience with strong interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills, driving performance excellence and innovation across India’s steel and refractory industries.
