Sudeshna Dasgupta Leads Crop Insurance at Digit Insurance, Advancing a Data-Led and Farmer-Centric Approach
With over two decades of experience across India’s insurance landscape, Sudeshna Dasgupta has taken on a pivotal leadership role as Head – Crop Insurance at Digit Insurance. In this capacity, she is driving the development of solutions that balance data-led precision with on-ground realities — designing products that reduce volatility for farmers and livestock owners while building scalable, sustainable insurance models. Her approach reflects a strong belief that rural insurance must go beyond underwriting risk to enable stability, trust, and long-term resilience within India’s agricultural ecosystem.
Prior to this, Sudeshna spent over 18 years at Bajaj General Insurance, where she held multiple leadership roles across agri business development, claims, and rural distribution. As National Manager – Agri Business Development, she was responsible for strengthening market strategy and expanding reach, while her tenure as Vertical Head – CSC & Village Insure Network focused on building sustainable rural distribution ecosystems for both crop and non-crop insurance products.
Her experience as Vertical Head – Agri Claims further deepened her expertise in operational execution, where she worked closely with government bodies, monitored crop cutting experiments, ensured timely claim disbursals, and strengthened systems for accuracy and efficiency. Earlier, as Zonal Agriculture Manager, she led large-scale regional operations across Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and the North East, managing extensive teams and driving both loanee and non-loanee business growth.
She began her career with Kotak Life Insurance and followed by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited, building a strong foundation in distribution, operations, and customer engagement. Over the years, Sudeshna has developed a reputation for combining strategic clarity with execution depth, particularly in complex, high-impact sectors like agriculture insurance.
At Digit Insurance, she now brings this experience together to build solutions that are not only innovative and scalable, but also empathetic to the realities of rural India — positioning insurance as a dependable partner in strengthening the country’s agri economy.
