Shamim Rayani has been appointed as the Corporate Head – HSE at H.L. Agro Products Pvt. Ltd., where he now leads and implements the organisation’s Health, Safety, and Environment strategy across its maize and food processing operations. In this pivotal role, he is responsible for strengthening the company’s Safety-First culture, ensuring robust emergency preparedness, and enhancing regulatory compliance across all locations. His leadership is geared toward elevating HSE performance and embedding best practices that safeguard employees, assets, and communities.
A key part of his mandate includes conducting comprehensive risk assessments, driving internal and external audits, and executing site inspections to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks. He is also responsible for building strong incident-prevention systems that minimise hazards and support safe, efficient operations. In parallel, he is championing safety competency development by leading targeted training programs, awareness sessions, and capability-building initiatives to create a more informed and safety-conscious workforce.
Shamim’s approach emphasises continuous improvement and operational excellence, ensuring that H.L. Agro’s sustainability goals align with global HSE standards. By integrating people, processes, and performance, he is strengthening the organisation’s HSE governance model and supporting its goal of achieving safer, more sustainable, and fully compliant operations.
Before joining H.L. Agro, Shamim served as the Head of Environment, Health, and Safety at Kanpur Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited, where he led safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance initiatives across the fertilizer sector. His efforts not only fortified process discipline but also cultivated a culture rooted in excellence and continuous improvement.
His diverse experience also includes serving as an HSE Consultant at VA Tech Wabag for World Bank–funded and Namami Gange projects, where he developed and implemented stringent safety programs aligned with global benchmarks and environmental conservation objectives. Earlier, during his seven-year tenure at Voltas Limited (A TATA Enterprise), he ensured compliance across water business, MEP, HVAC, manufacturing, metro, and large-scale infrastructure projects. With a career spanning decades—including a remarkable 26-year journey with Hindalco Industries—Shamim brings deep expertise in auditing, sustainability, EHS leadership, regulatory compliance, and operational risk management, making him a significant strategic asset for H.L. Agro Products Pvt. Ltd.
