Sunil Kumar Verma has been working as General Manager – Electrical at Orient Paper & Industries Ltd. (OPIL), a flagship company of the CK Birla Group, taking charge of plant-wide electrical leadership at a critical phase of operational transformation and sustainability focus.

In his current role, Sunil leads end-to-end electrical maintenance, reliability enhancement, plant expansions, and system upgradation initiatives. His mandate spans driving long-term sustainability roadmaps, SAP PM implementation, relay coordination and fault analysis, transformer RLA studies, online energy monitoring systems, condition-based monitoring, and capacity enhancement projects. Alongside technical excellence, he places strong emphasis on safety culture, people development, and disciplined governance across operations.

With over three decades of experience across heavy process industries, Sunil brings deep expertise in electrical engineering, energy management, automation, budgeting, and large-scale project execution. He is widely recognized for translating engineering rigor into measurable outcomes—improving plant reliability, reducing energy costs, and strengthening compliance frameworks.

Prior to joining OPIL, Sunil held senior leadership roles at AGI Greenpac Ltd. (formerly HSIL Ltd.), ACC Limited, Orient Papers Limited, Daman Ganga Papers Ltd., Satia Paper Limited, Shreeji Propack Pvt. Ltd., Khaitan Chemical & Fertilizer Ltd., A.K. Jain & Co., Malwa Vanaspati & Chemical Co. Ltd., Dewas Soya Ltd., and Sharda Solvent Ltd..

His career highlights include commissioning captive power plants and substations up to 132 kV, deploying solar installations up to 15.5 MWp, implementing ISO 50001 EnMS, PAT and EC Act compliance, CDM projects, and award-winning energy efficiency programs. A BEE-certified Energy Auditor and ISO 14064 GHG Lead Verifier, Sunil Kumar Verma continues to set benchmarks in sustainable, reliable, and future-ready industrial operations.
