Sagar Vagadia has been appointed as Assistant Vice President – Banking & Wealth Client Strategy at Citi, marking another milestone in his accomplished journey across the financial and risk management domains. Based in Mumbai, Sagar brings a rich blend of analytical rigor, leadership, and strategic acumen to his new role, where he will play a pivotal part in shaping the bank’s 1LoD Credit strategy within the Banking and Wealth Management division.
Prior to joining Citi, Sagar held a leadership role at Morgan Stanley as Director (AVP) – Credit Risk, where he was instrumental in strengthening the firm’s risk management framework. He led initiatives on portfolio analysis and reporting, stress loss monitoring, automation, and process transformation — overseeing data architecture integration projects that enhanced reporting efficiency and decision-making accuracy. His ability to merge technology with financial analysis underscored his forward-thinking approach to modern risk management.
Earlier at Morgan Stanley, Sagar also served as Associate – Credit Risk, contributing to portfolio-level analysis across products such as residential mortgages, securities-based lending, and commercial real estate. His expertise in reporting, reconciliation, and mentoring made him a trusted contributor to both regional and global credit functions.
Before his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Sagar gained valuable experience at J.P. Morgan Chase, where he worked within the Corporate & Investment Banking division, driving transformation initiatives in data analytics and reporting. His collaboration with traders and sales teams led to the development of dynamic Tableau dashboards and the streamlining of data architecture, improving the efficiency and accuracy of business intelligence operations.
Sagar’s early career at KPMG and later as a Corporate Analyst at J.P. Morgan provided him with a strong foundation in data analytics, automation, and process optimization. Over the years, he has become proficient in leveraging tools like SQL, Python, Power Query, and Tableau to enhance reporting ecosystems — aligning technology with strategic business objectives.
