Roop Kishore Sharma has been appointed as Assistant General Manager at Indo-Bharat Rayon, PT, marking a significant milestone in his leadership journey across technical operations, process excellence, and quality management in the pulp and fibre industry. In addition to his new responsibilities, he also serves as Head – Spinning Production & Maintenance, leading manufacturing operations with a strong focus on operational excellence, process optimization, digital transformation, and quality enhancement while driving sustainable growth across the organization’s Indonesia operations.
Prior to this appointment, Roop served as Technical Quality Manager at Grasim Industries Limited | Pulp & Fibre, where he led process optimization, technical recipe improvements, and data-driven process capability initiatives. He played a pivotal role in advancing digital transformation through digital twin technologies and performance dashboards while championing customer-centric quality improvements and root cause analysis. Earlier, as Process Technologist – Fiber Research Centre (R&D) and Senior Process Technologist, he successfully delivered several high-impact innovations, including recurring cost savings through caustic reduction, commercialization of sustainable fibre initiatives using recycled cotton waste, fresh water conservation projects, and process enhancements that improved both product quality and operational efficiency.
Earlier in his career, Roop held key engineering and project leadership roles at Indian Rayon (Aditya Birla Group) and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., where he successfully managed large-scale CAPEX projects, greenfield expansion initiatives, process improvements, and commercialization of innovative products. His expertise spans project execution, process engineering, manufacturing excellence, quality management, sustainable operations, and cross-functional leadership, backed by a strong track record of delivering measurable business impact across complex industrial environments.
With over 14 years of experience in manufacturing, R&D, quality management, process innovation, and spinning production & maintenance, Roop brings a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership to his new role.
