Kuntal Das has been appointed as Assistant General Manager – HR at Hindalco Industries Limited, part of the Aditya Birla Group. In his new role, he will drive strategic HR initiatives, employee engagement, and organizational development across the company’s operations, leveraging his extensive experience in industrial relations and human capital management.
Before this, Kuntal was with Tata Steel for over four years, where he last served as Area Manager HRBP (Corporate) and HR for HR, overseeing HR operations across 27 locations nationwide. He played a pivotal role in workforce optimization, succession planning, and the implementation of skill assessment and competency frameworks for both blue- and white-collar employees.
During his tenure at Tata Steel, Kuntal also worked as Senior Manager HRBP (Factory) at the Kharagpur unit, where he successfully led HR and IR functions for a 1,000-strong workforce. He was instrumental in negotiating long-term settlements with unions, executing large-scale VRS programs, and launching skill development initiatives that significantly improved productivity.
Prior to that, Kuntal spent over four years with Hindalco Industries Limited, managing employee relations and HR operations at multiple manufacturing units. From managing industrial relations at large plants in Odisha to contributing to corporate HR centers of excellence, Kuntal’s journey reflects his consistent commitment to fostering people-centric and performance-driven workplaces.
