Phani (Valluru) Karthik has joined Aditya Birla Chemicals as Senior Manager – EHS (Environment, Health & Safety), bringing with him over 15 years of diverse and impactful experience across India’s leading pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing companies. In his new role, which commenced in April 2025, Phani will be responsible for driving safety strategy, environmental compliance, and occupational health systems at the organization’s critical operations.
Prior to this appointment, Phani served as Deputy Manager – EHS at Biocon, where he played a pivotal role in implementing industrial hygiene practices, ISO 45001 standards, fire protection systems, and emergency response drills. His earlier stints at Mylan Laboratories, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Neuland Laboratories, and Divi’s Laboratories have further strengthened his expertise in EHS systems development, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and hazard mitigation strategies.
Throughout his career, Phani has been deeply involved in building and executing safety management systems aligned with global standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. He has led numerous initiatives including root cause analyses for incidents, environmental monitoring, and onsite emergency preparedness, earning accolades for developing lab safety manuals and mock drill frameworks. At Neuland Laboratories, he was instrumental in preparing the “On-Site Emergency Plan” for their R&D center and promoting ISO certifications.
Phani holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Dr. M.G.R. University, a Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering from SRM University, and a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Technology. His academic credentials, combined with hands-on industry exposure, make him a strong advocate for operational safety and compliance.
