Shekhar Lele has been appointed as Sr. Manager Revenue Development – Embedded Finance at HSBC, India. In this role, he will drive innovation in embedded financial services, enabling seamless “Beyond Banking” experiences for customers while collaborating with leading technology partners. His appointment highlights HSBC’s commitment to leveraging digital transformation to enhance customer journeys, accelerate lending processes, and deliver innovative financial solutions across India.
With nearly six years at HSBC, Shekhar has previously served as Business Innovation Lead, earning the Champions Award—HSBC’s highest recognition—and three Dynamo Awards for executing pioneering initiatives. He has been instrumental in developing programs that digitize onboarding and KYC, streamline lending for borrowers, and create creative campaigns such as the “Our Customers, Our Ambassadors” series, which has become a strong lead generation source.
Before joining HSBC, Shekhar contributed significantly to PwC India as Principal Consultant in Payments, FinTech, and Digital Banking. He was recognized with multiple awards for his outstanding performance, generated over INR 1 crore in revenue for two consecutive years, and strengthened thought leadership as the program head of the FinTech Publishing House, driving PwC India to the top spot for FinTech searches on Google. He also collaborated with government entities, banks, NBFCs, and payment banks across India, UAE, and Nigeria.
Earlier in his career, Shekhar worked at Yes Bank as Project Manager, overseeing end-to-end project lifecycle management. He successfully executed government-first projects, introduced self-help features that reduced customer turnaround time by 3-4 days, and ensured regulatory compliance for Treasury reporting. His foundation in finance was established with an MBA in Finance from SCMHRD, where he contributed articles on revenue models and microfinance success in India, and an early technology role at Nomura, enabling faster client order execution in European capital markets.
