Sanjay Chugani has been elevated to Head – Investments at Vertis Infrastructure Trust, assuming a wider role in defining the platform’s investment priorities and advancing its growth strategy. His mandate will cover the origination, assessment and execution of new investments, together with the development of opportunities across Vertis’ existing and adjacent infrastructure sectors.

Since joining Vertis, Sanjay’s responsibilities have progressively expanded across the investment lifecycle. Having served as Principal and subsequently Senior Principal, he has worked across opportunity identification, commercial evaluation, structuring, financing, transaction execution and post-acquisition integration.

During this period, he has contributed to acquisitions aggregating over ₹100 billion across multiple transactions. Among these was the acquisition of the 12-asset PNC roads portfolio, comprising 11 HAM projects and one BOT project. The transaction was one of the largest road-sector M&A transactions in India and represented an important milestone in Vertis’ expansion.

Sanjay’s career reflects a well-rounded combination of buy-side investing, investment banking, equity capital markets and debt capital markets experience. Prior to Vertis, he spent more than six years with Equirus Group in its Infrastructure and Industrials investment-banking practice. His work there covered M&A, private placements, IPOs, QIPs and fixed-income and structured-debt mandates across infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Earlier, at L&T Infrastructure Finance, Sanjay worked in debt capital markets, with experience spanning the structuring, placement, monitoring and execution of corporate-bond and fixed-income transactions. He began his professional career at Deloitte, where he developed a foundation in audit, financial analysis and risk assessment.

In his new role, Sanjay will focus on strengthening Vertis’ investment pipeline and evaluating opportunities that complement the platform’s existing portfolio. His expanded mandate will support Vertis’ continued scale-up, with an emphasis on investment discipline, portfolio quality and sustainable long-term value creation.
