Saurabh Vatsa, currently serving as Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, is set to expand his leadership portfolio as he takes on additional responsibilities for commercial operations in India, effective August 1, 2025. This move marks a significant step in Nissan’s India strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to driving stronger market performance and commercial alignment. In this expanded role, Vatsa will report directly to Leon Dorssers, SVP & Chief of Commercial Operations, AMIEO.
Vatsa’s elevation comes at a crucial time for Nissan Motor India, which is undergoing a leadership transition and addressing recent challenges in domestic sales performance. His appointment is seen as a strategic effort to re-energize Nissan’s commercial strategy in India by strengthening channel engagement, customer experience, and regional responsiveness. With a proven leadership track record and a clear focus on market execution, Vatsa is well-positioned to lead Nissan through this next chapter of growth and transformation.
The change also follows the announced departure of Frank Torres, President – Nissan Motor India and Regional Divisional VP – AMIEO Business Transformation, who will be stepping down from his role on August 31, 2025, due to personal reasons. Torres, who played a pivotal role in Nissan’s business transformation efforts, will support the transition process over the coming weeks to ensure business continuity and strategic alignment.
Vatsa, who was appointed Managing Director in April 2024, brings deep insight into the Indian automotive landscape and has been at the forefront of Nissan’s operational turnaround initiatives. His expanded role now reflects the company’s confidence in his ability to spearhead a more integrated and performance-led commercial approach at a time when adaptability and local market responsiveness are paramount.
This leadership realignment underscores Nissan’s strategic focus on strengthening its India business through experienced leadership and sharper commercial execution. With Vatsa at the helm of both operational and commercial fronts, the company aims to reestablish its competitive edge and foster long-term growth in a dynamic and evolving market.
