Boria Majumdar, renowned sports historian, journalist, and founder of Revsportz, has joined NDTV as Consulting Editor – Sports, marking a significant milestone for the channel’s evolving editorial vision. A Rhodes Scholar and author of multiple critically acclaimed books, including Playing It My Way, the official autobiography of Sachin Tendulkar, Boria brings over two decades of experience covering global sporting events and engaging with the most influential names in Indian and international sports.
In his new role at NDTV, Boria aims to bring a paradigm shift in how sports are reported in India—moving beyond the scoreboard to showcase the deeper intersections of sport with national identity, diplomacy, and public consciousness. “Sport isn’t entertainment. It is identity. It is culture. It is diplomacy. It’s where a nation stands when the anthem plays,” he asserts. His vision aligns with NDTV’s refreshed approach to sports journalism—one that champions inclusive storytelling, Olympic and Paralympic coverage, gender equity, and grassroots development.
Having interviewed every Indian cricket captain since Sourav Ganguly and reported from multiple World Cups and Olympics, Boria is known for his rare access, historical insight, and fearless commentary. With India’s eyes on a busy international sports calendar—from the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics qualifiers and even aspirations to host the 2036 Olympic Games—NDTV’s decision to bring Boria on board reflects a strategic pivot to deepen, broaden, and elevate the national sports narrative.
“The idea is to ask better questions, connect the dots, and build a new kind of Indian sports media narrative—bold, inclusive, and format-breaking,” says Boria. From tracking infrastructure and funding challenges to celebrating lesser-known heroes and emerging sports, the editorial expansion under his leadership is set to add context and consequence to Indian sports coverage.
Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, calls Boria “the most high-impact sports journalist in the industry today,” lauding his unmatched depth and nuanced understanding of the global sports ecosystem. With this partnership, NDTV is poised to become a pioneering platform for meaningful, insightful, and future-forward sports journalism in India.
