Bhupesh Purwar has been appointed as Deputy General Manager – Materials SBU
(Metals & Steels) at Yokogawa India, stepping into a pivotal role as an Industry &
Engineering Expert. In this capacity, he will lead solution architecture, process
automation, digital transformation, and AI-driven initiatives for the steel ,metals and
metallurgy segment. His transition marks an important milestone in a career spanning
more than two decades, during which he has continuously advanced the integration of
digital, electrical, IT and automation excellence within large industrial environments.


Before this appointment, Bhupesh played a significant leadership role at Tata Steel,
contributing across multiple strategic domains including digital transformation, IT/OT
integration, electrical systems, automation, and IT & digital strategy. His
responsibilities included steering the digital transformation roadmap for the steel
manufacturing division, driving strategic planning, execution, and delivery of
innovation-led initiatives. As Head Client Partner for Steel Manufacturing (Digital/IT)
and TSM Digital Transformation, he championed lean methodologies, analytics-driven
decision-making, and best practices that enhanced operational speed, quality, and
large-scale process optimization.


Earlier in his career, at Ispat Industries Limited, Dolvi, Bhupesh built a strong
engineering foundation by leading the commissioning of a 33KV substation,
implementing electrostatic precipitator systems, and managing the electrical and
automation systems of the Sinter Plant. His responsibilities also extended to
high-voltage distribution networks, PLC-based control systems, AC/DC drives,
instrumentation, and plant-wide automation frameworks—providing him with
end-to-end exposure to industrial execution, reliability engineering, and automation
lifecycle management. His role involved extensive commissioning, installation, and
troubleshooting of high-voltage systems, Siemens and ABB PLCs, AC/DC drives,
Instrumentation and key components of large industrial power systems—
strengthening his capabilities in industrial execution, plant reliability, and
end-to-end automation lifecycle management.


He also gained valuable experience at Jayaswal Steels, where he contributed to
electrical and automation functions and supported plant operations with a focus on
reliability, efficiency, and modernization. This phase of his career further reinforced his
expertise in managing complex industrial systems and laid the groundwork for his later
leadership in digital and automation transformation.


His two decades of work across Tata Steel, Ispat Industries, Jayaswal Steels, and
ADMA highlight a career focused on advancing digitalization, electrical
modernization, and process automation within the steel manufacturing landscape.
Bhupesh has consistently enabled business domains to scale their digital maturity by
driving data governance, industrial analytics, large-scale transformation programs,
and collaborative innovation models. His portfolio reflects strong expertise in
enhancing uptime, optimizing maintenance, deploying advanced control systems,
and enabling smart, data-driven operations.


With this new appointment at Yokogawa India, Bhupesh is positioned to contribute
strategically to the company’s governance, operational excellence, and long-term
value creation. Drawing from his vast experience across engineering, automation,
and digital transformation, he will support Yokogawa’s mission of strengthening
digital industrial ecosystems and delivering high-impact solutions for customers in
