Avinash Pandey appointed as Assistant Vice President at HDFC ERGO General Insurance, marking a new chapter in his underwriting career. Based in Mumbai, he will contribute to strengthening the company’s commercial lines underwriting portfolio, driving risk assessment excellence, and supporting strategic growth initiatives across key business segments.
He brings a solid foundation in commercial underwriting, most recently serving as Senior Manager – Commercial Lines Underwriting (West Zone) at Liberty General Insurance. During this tenure, he was responsible for managing complex risk portfolios, enhancing underwriting governance, and supporting business development teams with technical expertise.
Before Liberty, he spent over five years at Digit Insurance as a Property & Engineering Underwriter, where he played a pivotal role in evaluating high-value risks, developing customised insurance solutions, and contributing to the expansion of the engineering and property lines business. His analytical capability and strong command over technical underwriting have been central to his career progression in the insurance sector.
Earlier in his professional journey, he gained hands-on experience in the manufacturing and chemical industries through production roles at Aarti Industries, Insecticides (India) Ltd, and Yashashvi Rasayan Pvt. Ltd. These roles provided him with a strong understanding of industrial processes, operational risks, and safety protocols—knowledge that continues to inform his underwriting decisions today.
In his new role at HDFC ERGO, he steps into a position that leverages both his deep technical expertise and his diverse industry exposure, further strengthening the organisation’s commercial underwriting capabilities.
