M. Shakeel Chouhan is a distinguished infrastructure and project leadership professional with extensive experience spanning renewable energy, hydropower, tunnelling, railways, and large-scale infrastructure development. Currently serving as Vice President – Projects and Project Head – Khavda at Adani Green Energy Ltd., he is leading the development and execution of the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 30 GW comprising 26 GW of Solar and 4 GW of Wind, alongside 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). His career stands out for his leadership across several landmark projects that represent the scale, complexity, and engineering ambition of modern India.
A defining chapter of Chouhan’s career was his leadership involvement in the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, one of India’s largest constructed hydroelectric projects. At Patel Engineering, he held senior project leadership responsibilities on the project, contributing to the execution of this technically demanding mega infrastructure development. His experience on Subansiri Lower reflects his ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams, manage complex construction environments, coordinate stakeholders, and drive execution on projects of national significance.
Another major milestone in his infrastructure journey has been his involvement in the Sivok–Rangpo Rail Project, including Tunnel T7 and the Teesta Bazaar Underground Railway Station in West Bengal—a landmark underground railway development and India’s first underground railway station. Working across challenging tunnelling and railway infrastructure environments, Chouhan has built deep expertise in underground construction, project planning, execution management, resource coordination, and technical problem-solving. His broader project portfolio also includes the 500 MW Teesta-VI Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim, USBRL Tunnel T2 in Jammu & Kashmir, the Parnai Hydroelectric Project, and the Pune–Nashik High-Speed Railway Project, involving 18 bi-directional tunnels with a combined tunnelling length of approximately 30 km.
At Adani Green Energy, Chouhan has carried this execution-focused leadership into the renewable energy sector. As Project Director – Wind Energy, he led the execution of wind projects and achieved the fastest installation of 238 wind turbines in FY 2025–26 at a single location, despite extreme weather and challenging site conditions. He also contributed to the commissioning of 379.6 MW in FY 2024–25 and 1,238 MW in FY 2025–26, while successfully integrating a 5.2 MW wind turbine with a 160-metre rotor diameter and 200-metre tip height. His journey from heavy civil and infrastructure construction to large-scale renewable energy leadership reflects a consistent ability to convert ambitious visions into measurable outcomes.
