George Abraham has taken on the role of Associate Director – Market Development at Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) India, effective January 2025. In this position, George is spearheading the expansion of LEED green building certification and sustainability initiatives across North, Central, and Northeast India.
With over a decade of experience in sustainability, real estate development, business strategy, and project management, George brings a unique blend of technical expertise and market insight to his new role. His mission at GBCI aligns with the organisation’s broader vision to promote sustainable, resilient, and prosperous communities across India through impactful green building practices.
Prior to this elevation, George served as Regional Head – Market Development at GBCI, where he played a pivotal role in promoting building certification and sustainable development across Northern India. His earlier roles include stints at Knight Frank India, Vestian Global Workplace Services, SEED Engineering Consultants, ETA Engineering, and Voltas Ltd, where he held various leadership positions in business development, project execution, and client management.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, George holds an MBA in Management with a focus on environmental initiatives. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology.
George’s appointment underscores GBCI India’s commitment to advancing green building and environmental responsibility across the nation. His leadership is expected to further bolster the adoption of LEED standards and strengthen collaboration across key stakeholders in the built environment sector.
